ATOMANIA, a Photobook by Jo Voets

Step into the quirky world of Atomania, a captivating photo booklet celebrating the charm of miniature Atomiums scattered across Belgian front gardens. These whimsical structures, often born from the hands of homeowners in the years following Expo 58, stand as unique tributes to Belgium's most iconic tourist attraction. Through the lens of photographer Jo Voets, these miniature structures become unexpected love letters to a modernist architectural icon, transforming everyday spaces into surreal monuments of affection.

We’ve wanted to work with Jo again ever since we published his chronicles as a young photographer on the first European Butthole Surfers tour in 1987, in our ’zine Peace or Annihilation. So yeah—what can we say? Designing this soon-to-be evergreen book was nothing short of a dream come true.
