Filip Vervaet - 'Passages' Edition

Filip Vervaet is an artist whose work we have long admired. Over the years, he has developed a particularly idiosyncratic visual language. Using the most diverse materials - from traditional bronze and metal to special paints used for auto-tuning and color filters - he combines various elements into a special universe. Art historical references, links to existing or non-existing civilizations, and allusions to science fiction come together in sculptures that exist in the fringes of past and future, and explore the boundaries of the medium.

The 'Passages' publication was released following his ultra-minimal solo exhibition at PlusONE Gallery in Antwerp. The first part consists of Gallery views, the second is an accurate inventory of the eight different passages, accompanied by a text by Anna Laganovska. Photography by Pieter Huybrechts. During the launch event, Timo Van Luijk presented a sound performance on metal sheets.
